MISSION AND HISTORY

Camp Cummins Activity Center, New Braunfels is the realization of the dream of Tom and Susie Cummins to provide vital opportunities to our community’s special needs residents. CCAC provides a safe, lively neighborhood activity center where adults with special needs can come together in fellowship, engage in meaningful work and job training. Camp Cummins provides a place all their own for socializing, entertainment and physical activity.

The center began as a dream to fullfill a need for accessible resources for New Braunfels’ most special residents. As parents of a special needs adult, Tom and Susie are acutely familiar with the challenges of helping their son achieve independence, self-sufficiency, job skills and meaningful socialization. Their experience as parents who wanted to provide the best opportunities for their son led them to establish CCAC. They are called to serve the New Braunfels community in a way that makes a positive impact on the lives of their clients.

Camp Cummins serves adults living with developmental disabilities at our location in New Braunfels and accepts clients from the surrounding area including New Braunfels, San Marcos, Seguin, Garden Ridge, Canyon Lake, Bulverde, and the local area.

TOM & SUSIE'S STORY

Tom & Susie Cummins have called New Braunfels home for the past 29 years. Raised in southwest Oklahoma, they got to Texas just as soon as they could. They are parents to two loving adult sons, Brandon and J.D. J.D. was born with special needs, and has accomplished a great deal thanks to opportunities for support, training and fellowship throughout his life. As a result of their experience with J.D., Tom and Susie recognized a need for a neighborhood center for special needs adults, which could provide enrichment opportunities right here in New Braunfels. Through the grace of God, and in answer to His call, the Cummins family has opened Camp Cummins as a faith-based center for adults with special needs. With a focus on building friendships, providing opportunities for meaningful work, learning social skills and developing hobbies, Camp Cummins aims to serve our community with faith, love and support
